Gobble Gobble!

Clint and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with all of our families. I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving holiday as well. We had turkey at Clint’s mom’s, turkey at my mom’s and then turkey again with just the two of us. Now I know that sounds crazy, who in their right mind eats that much turkey? Apparently we do. I figured since it was our last Thanksgiving before Baby Hester might as well do it up right and go all out. And all out we did. I’m talking Turkey and all the fixins. By the time the week was over we were all turkey’d out. Which is a shame because we have SO many leftovers! I guess that’s what happens when you buy a 12 pound turkey for just two people, which by the way was the smallest bird you could buy at the store, or at least it was  at Target. So guess what I’ll be having for dinner the rest of the week? That’s right, more turkey. The only thing we were missing was Clint’s dad and Nancy. They live in Oklahoma so it’s hard to get together, but hopefully we will get to see them during Christmas. And Clint's sister Judy, she lives in Florida with her boyfriend and they weren't able to make it back. She was definately missed.

Clint was such a trooper too, he had such a busy work schedule last week and he didn't complain once about all of our family plans. He’s a Team Lead at Target and had to work crazy hours to get the store ready for the holidays. I’m talking some days he went in at 2 am and didn’t get home until the late afternoon, other days he went in at midnight and didn’t get home until late that morning. Man is a machine, don’t know how he does it. Luckily he did get Thanksgiving off.

So who all participated in the Black Friday madness? You brave souls. Although I was kind of bummed I didn’t get to partake in it this year. I had never been before and had been looking online at the door buster deals and found some stuff I wanted to get Clint for Christmas. Anyone who has a “gamer” husband like I do knows how expensive video games and gaming consoles can be, so anytime you see a sale you jump on it. I had my eye on a Kinect bundle for Xbox that came with 4 games for $99. It’s normally over $200 for all of that, mama was set to go! I’m talking I had my lawn chair ready and book in hand preparing myself mentally for the long night ahead of me of waiting in line, until Clint had to be the voice of reason. He “suggested” (and I say this in quotes because there really was no arguing with him at that point, he had that look that meant business. I don’t see it often but when I do I know to just leave it alone) that with me being pregnant and how wild and crazy the “mob” gets it would be better to stay home. So I did, even though I was tempted to sneak out old school like and do it anyways. Make a pillow mold of myself under the covers in bed in case Clint got home early and then sneak back in later. Straight up Ferris Bueller style, but I didn’t. Clint said it was so busy you could barely walk without bumping into one another, so it’s probably best that I stayed home. Boo. And wouldn’t you know it, when I checked online the next day all the Kinect systems that Target had were sold out. But the fortunes of fate were smiling down on me. Someone ended up returning theirs because they spent too much money. Poor sap, their over spending got Clint his first Christmas present. And Clint, knowing that he got it, will have to look longingly at it under the tree until Christmas because that bad boy is getting wrapped. J

Speaking of tree….the tree is up and the house is decorated! The only thing we need to do now is put the ornaments on the tree and the lights on the house. Clint has Wednesday off so I’m hoping we can do that Tuesday night together.

I don’t know about everyone else but I can’t believe that November is almost over and Christmas is upon us. Where did 2011 go?
