2:14 pm weighing in at 7 pounds 15 ounces and 19 3/4 inches long, and she is just perfect!!
I gotta say, the c-section wasn't bad. It was definitely scarier in my head than in reality. All in all the whole process went down smoothly. Apparently April 25th was a busy day for babies to be born because we had to wait quite awhile before we even made it in to the operating room. That was the worst part, was the waiting.
I'm so thankful my doctor opted to go straight to a c-section instead of inducing. When she was checking my uterus after Stella was born they found a benign cyst on one side that was blocking part of the birth canal. It's nothing to worry about, my doctor said the cyst is quite common and it's brought on by the extra hormones and will dissolve on its own. But, because of where the cyst was positioned there was no way she was going to be able to come out naturally, so a c-section would have been inevitable. Not to mention she wasn't anywhere near my cervix like they originally thought. Normally when babies are in the head down position they are close to or near the cervix, but with Stella her head was behind my belly button and they had to pull most of her out from under my ribs, she was that high up. That's why my doctor thought she would be "gigantic" she assumed that Stella was taking up the entire length of my belly instead of just the upper half. Regardless, I'm just so glad she 's here :)
I have to give a shout out to the doctor's and nurses at Presby of Dallas. I can't stop raving about them and how they made me feel completely taken care of throughout the entire process. Having a baby for the first time is a scary thing. It's the unknown of what is going on that makes it so difficult, and they made sure that Clint and I understood everything that was going on as it happened, we greatly appreciated that. Plus, thanks to their lactation consultants I'm able to breast feed Stella without any problems. They made sure we had a game plan in place before went home and understood how to do everything properly. By the time we left there I felt completely confident about going home. Thank you Presby of Dallas!
